The Haryana government has finalized the 32.14 km long route of the Metro connecting Gurugram to Faridabad. There will be 12 stations on this much awaited route, linking the people of these two important cities of the state.<\/p>\n
Once detailed project report (DPR) is finalized, the same would be sent to the Union ministry of housing and urban affairs for final approval. A formal statement in this regard was made by the Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar before the state assembly during the winter session on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The CM also informed that the route of the Metro for connecting Faridabad and Gurugarm is from Bata Chowk Faridabad to Vatika Chowk Gurugram with total length of 32.14 km consisting of 12 stations. These stations are Bata Chowk, Pyali Chowk, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Marg, Badhal Enclave, Pali Chowk, Police Chowki Manger, Gwal Pahari, Sector-56, Sushant Lok, Sushant Lok-3, Rosewood city and Vatika Chowk.<\/p>\n
The chief minister also stated that the final DPR of the project is under preparation and as and when the DPR is finalized, the same will be placed before the council of ministers, Haryana. \u201cAfter the approval of the government, the DPR will be forwarded to the ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, for approval,\u201d said the CM. The CM, however, made it clear that the exact time lines for start and completion of this metro project cannot be given at this stage.<\/p>\n
The CM was responding to a question asked by the Congress MLA from NIT Faridabad, Neeraj Sharma. The MLA had asked whether the route of Metro connecting Faridabad to Gurugram has been finalized by the government and the timeline by which the work of connecting these two cities with Metro is likely to be started.<\/p>\n
The project was announced by chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar in 2016. After several delays, the DPR was completed this March. The DPR has now been placed before the public undertaking committee of the Haryana assembly.<\/p>\n
Announced in 2016 by CM Manohar Lal Khattar, the proposed linking of Faridabad to Gurugram through Metro would reduce the vehicular traffic between the two cities. In absence of a public transport system on this route, a large number of people travel every day in personal vehicles for work.<\/p>\n
